UK Tax Returns due by 31 Jan 2023

We launched the new UK tax year back in April with a call to action for expats (contact us if you are unsure if you need a UK tax return now).

We know it takes some time for end of UK income and tax year statements to be received especially over seas. We collate these to start tax preparation this quarter.

The 4th quarter of the the calendar year, the start of the second half of the UK tax year is our time to finalise UK tax returns for expats.

WHY NOW?

The UK tax year is different to others. Any expats based in a calendar year end tax jurisdiction will use the previous April UK tax return for comparative tax years.

If you have left or returned to the UK since 6/4/2021 up to today, you need to notify HMRC of the change of tax residence to avoid penalties and fines?

Expats may have paid UK tax at source and this can be reclaimed with a UK tax return.
